Twitter tips - No. 1 - Don't follow everyone

14 June 2010 - 2:29pm |  Patrick Nelson

Build your network around noteworthy business associates, competitors, and peers. Don't feel that you have to follow every single person that you discover on Twitter or that asks you to or that follows you.

Choose who you follow carefully just as you would choose the people that you network with carefully. Seek out peers, prospective clients, competitors or people who work within your niche or industry.

Follow them, look for advice that they give and communicate with them. By following people who should be in your network, you'll form a clearer picture of how they use Twitter and insights and ideas on how you could use it too.
