Profile

Director

Patrick has been working in Information Technology since 1985, leaving college as a COBOL programmer in the early 80’s. Patrick is one of the first people in the UK to have been qualified as both a Microsoft Certified Developer (MCD) as well as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).

In the mid 90’s, Patrick was setting up Bulletin Board Systems (BBS’s) when the Internet suddenly (seemingly overnight) became mainstream. Sensing a massive opportunity, Patrick retrained himself as a website designer and developer and has, over the last 13 years, become proficient at a wide range of SQL database management systems (DBMS’s) ranging from Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server and Access as well as a range of programming languages and scripts including PHP, HTML, Python, Javascript, Perl and CGI scripting.

As the founder of UnderDesign, Patrick has grown the company from a sole trader in 2006 to become one of Nottingham’s leading web and online marketing agencies with a plethora of local clients including Springwater Golf Club, Frank Key Builders Merchants, AWEBB, Rushcliffe Borough Council, Ruschcliffe Business Partnership, Innovate Logistics, Farndon Marina, NEBA, 16 Pilcher Gate and Notts County Football Club.

Patrick has also written a number of articles on Internet marketing that have been published in Fresh Business Thinking, IFA Life, and Observer Newspaper amongst others and his monthly UnderDesign newsletter attracts over 4,000 subscribers.

Patrick’s expertise on developments in Google, blog writing and social media marketing has gained him recognition in a number of networks including Ecademy (where he frequently gives assistance to the members with online marketing matters), and offline, local groups such as Gedling Business Partnership where he is Chair of the Steering Group, and Rushcliffe Business Partnership where he is website master and Treasurer. At the end of last year Patrick had the honour of being invited into the Observer’s Courvoisier Future 500, an exclusive club for exceptional entrepreneurs.
